This beautiful girl is Olyvia from Melrose-Mindoro Class of 2018. This session was near and dear to my heart for a couple of reasons… 1. Olyvia is my cousin and 2. She is the last of my “little” cousins to be graduating and 3. I took her brother’s senior pictures when I was just beginning my photography business. Time sure does fly!
We started Olyvia’s day out by exploring Riverside Park and Downtown LaCrosse. We had to make sure we got Powell Place in some of her images as her last name is Powell.
Next stop was Olyvia’s home where we took some pictures with her and her dogs, Maggie and Bear. Bear was only a puppy when I took his pictures with Olyvia’s brother when he was a senior and now his old age is starting to show as he’s graying like we all do when we get older.
The next stop on our way was at our Aunt’s family farm where we got some fun rustic-y pictures. We reminisced about how we would visit the farm when we were kids to play with the many kittens as well as check out the cows in the barn. It’s always fun to revisit the past from time to time.
Our travels then led us to the Merrillan Falls where we all have visited for pictures during prom season or weddings. I have to wonder how many people have snapped photos at the falls… I bet it’s in the millions.
Finally we ended her whirlwind day back at the studio where we had some fun with a fan, ring light and a gold sequence backdrop. She really didn’t know what to think of all of that until I showed her a little sneak peek off my camera and she loved the result. Always trust your cousin….er, I mean photographer, Oly!
Yes, this session was special to me and I hope I made it special for Olyvia. It means the world to me to photograph my family members and this was extra special knowing it’s an end of an era with her being the last cousin to graduate. So here’s an early CONGRATULATIONS OLYVIA! Enjoy your senior year as it will go by fast and thank you for allowing me to capture this special time in your life! Love you!
